7th Highlight of Park City Vacation

On the weekends Santa came to one of the shops just out our door, down the hall and around the corner. He was so close we had to go see him and get a picture! Look, the twins are not crying or even close to being scared. I even left Alexa on Santa's lap a bit longer than anyone else because Santa wanted to hold her.

6th Highlight of Park City Vacation

The Polar Express was a highlight that Mya especially loved. I think Preston may have liked it too, but Alexa did not so much. It was time to go to sleep and the noise really bugged her and she let us know it for about a half and hour or so.

We got to have hot chocolate and a cookie. The elves took down what Mya wanted for Christmas so they could let Santa know. I really don't know if Santa will ever know exactly what Mya wants for Christmas because even on the train ride she changed her mind twice! We also read from the book Polar Express, sang Christmas carols, talked to Mrs. Clause and asked her what Reindeer eat and then, best of all, WE SAW SANTA!!

Let it Snow, let it Snow!!

Let it snow let it snow....but stop for a little while over the next couple of days 'cause I'm not done shopping...then start up again!

5th Highlight Of Park City Vacation

Ice skating was another highlight of the trip. Mya LOVES to ice skate so I was glad that we had time to do this with the Parker family. We decided that the twins didn't need to go skating so I stayed back at the resort and took a nap! The only nap of the whole vacation.

4th Highlight of Park City Vacation

Skiing was the main reason we took the vacation to Park City. I had a clinic that I needed to go to. Being a PSIA (professional ski instruction of America) member, I needed to keep up my hours of education to remain in good standing. So on this particular day I had the clinic at Park City Mountain resort so Mya and Doug came and skied here while I was in the clinic all day.

The resort that we stayed at was on Main Street, but from the top of this lift behind us (in the picture above) there is another lift that will drop you back into town on Main Street right at our resort. On the picture below we are on that lift.
The next day we skied Deer Valley and the day after that Doug was the only one that skied and he skied at The Canyons. The resorts all had minimal snow and very few lifts and runs open. You win some and you loose some this early in the season. I guess we lost this year.

Mya's Christmas Program

So on Thursday when I picked Mya up for school she says to me, "There were three terrible things that happened to me today".
I wanted to start the ride off with something positive so I said, "I saw your Christmas Program today!"
Mya replied, "make that two terrible things".
Mya hadn't seen me in the huge crowd of parents in the gym. I wasn't sitting too far back. I thought that she would have been able to see me, but as you can see in the picture (Mya is standing right next to the girl with her hands on her deer head) Mya was doing what her teacher had told them to do, she was keeping her eye on the teacher. I tried to get to her after they were done singing but the hall was jammed with the 4th grade getting ready to go on stage. I was about a half an hour late in feeding the twins and needed to get home as fast as possible, so there was a good reason why Mya might think I didn't make it. Well, it's a good thing that I have proof (see above) that I was there!
Mya's grade sang Jingle Jangle" and "Pablo". I liked Pablo the best I'd never heard it before. I guess Pablo is kinda' like Rudolf in Mexico.

3rd Highlight of Park City Vacation

Swimming in the indoor/outdoor pool was fun. The babies went swimming too for the first time! The water felt warm but the air was a little cool even in the indoor part of the pool, so the twins first experience swimming was a short one.

2nd Highlight of Park City Vacation

While in Park City we took a morning and went to the Olympic Park to see the museum and also to watch some Skeleton racing. Try as I might I could never get a still shot of the skeleton racer coming down, they go so fast! We enjoyed this outing with the Parker family.

This was the first snow that Preston and Alexa experienced. You can see from the expression on Alexa's face that this is something new and different!

1st Highlight of Park City Vacation

If you know us well then you know that we can't stay home for long. We had to take a vacation! With two babies only 4 1/2 months old we couldn't go far. It took two cars for us to get away with all the baby things, skis, food, clothes and a nanny. We decided to enjoy a vacation up in Park City last week. We stayed on Main Street at the Marriott Summit Watch. At this resort we could enjoy a full kitchen and much needed living space.

Of the many things we did one of the first was to walk main street and go in some of the shops. We like to browse the art stores.

Girls Night Out

It was a "girls night out" with the Thompson family sisters, mom and sister-in-laws on Saturday,(Brooke couldn't make it due to the snow--Trevor, my brother, also came, he said he was comfortable with his manhood and would be just fine).

We started off with lunch at PF Changs. It's the best restaurant to go to with a large crowd because you can share. We ended up getting two fixed price menus for two. I think it was the perfect amount of food for 6. We got 4 soups 2 different appetizers (lettuce wraps and seafood wontons) 4 entrees (honey chicken, sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken and mongolian beef) then it also came with 4 mini desserts!

Next we went to the theatre to see Twilight, which was the reason for the outing in the first place. All of us had either read or listened to the book. My thoughts were that Edward didn't "dress" the part. He and his family have more money than they know what to do with. They have a sister that can see the future, now what do you think their stock portfolio looks like?! He also didn't drive the appropriate car for the part either. And, Edward is supposed to be drop dead gorgeous...I wasn't seeing it. Jacob kinda' grew on me, he's not what I had exactly pictured though. I read today that the actors part as Jacob had not been agreed upon for the next movie, we'll have to see what happens there...

All was well at home when I returned. It was fun to get a day out!

Angels Singing

Mya sang like an angel today at our ward Relief Society Christmas dinner. She sang "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Tell me the Stories of Jesus". Again she wished that she could have sung a solo. She wanted to sing "Silent Night". Mya really loves to sing so I'm glad that she was able to have this opportunity with some of the other children in the ward.

Doug's Birthday

Doug had his birthday on Sunday. He's not a cake person so we didn't have cake. Mya thought that it would be nice to have pancakes to put the candle into so he could blow it out and make a wish. Well, Sundays are crazy at our house so Doug ended up making his own french toast and blowing the candle out while I was feeding one of the babies downstairs. My french toast from that morning is still in the fridge, like I said Sunday is a crazy day here, maybe I'll get to that french toast tomorrow.
So the day of Doug's birthday wasn't the best, but on Friday we went to see Bolt with Mya and then a couple hours later Doug and I went to dinner at a Sushi restaurant and then to see Australia. I highly recommend Australia, it was an excellent movie.
The next day, Saturday we did the traditional ski trip for Doug's birthday. Doug and I went to Snowbird and had a good time. It snowed while we were there and the terrain was surprisingly good for this early in the season. Visibility was not so good at times but we all survived. Happy birthday Doug!!
